I’m Xabier, a freelance make-up artist based in London and available across Europe and beyond.

I was born in South America and grew up and live in South London. My career started while studying at the BRIT School for performing arts in 2000 and working part time at the professional make-up supplier Charles H. Fox Ltd of Covent Garden then later going on to work at the MAC Pro Store in Carnaby Street whilst freelancing.

Whether the job requires the talent to be made up or made down, I am equally passionate in collaboratively creating characters for still and video imagery through make-up design. Some of my career highlights include shoots for magazines such as Vogue, Dazed, Vice alongside campaigns for Reebok, COS, Fila.

As an avid collector and researcher of makeup history paraphernalia, items from my archive of over 3000 pieces were featured in books such as “Timeless” by Louise Young & “The Quintessential Guide To Grooming”. I was interviewed in 2024 for the Guardian on the subject of makeup history and my archives. I also share these items and historical tidbits on my online London Cosmetics Museum platform.

Outside of working as a make-up artist you will find me travelling and discovering new museums/galleries, restaurants and scouring through antique markets. My 2025 new creative challenges include rediscovering my love for watercolour and gouache painting.
